The next hardest decision is picking a name and theme. Normally I hate dealing with that, but this is their last hurrah and usually they are too busy drunkenly moping to cause trouble. They’re usually blacked out when they get here. “Honestly, I prefer when they end it here. “Shuffles usually either start here or finish here,” Jake, a Broneys bartender said. What happens in between is a roll of the dice. ![]() From there, we made our way up to Jackie O’s, longingly walked past The Union, and attempted to make our way down Court Street to Broneys. In our case, we started down on Union Street at the Cat’s Den and the Smiling Skull, a couple of local places where college students stick out like a sore thumb. There are 22 bars crammed into this small town, and most shuffles will include about 18 of them. The hardest decision in an Athens shuffle is picking the starting point. I participated in their last shuffle and witnessed the emotional trials and tribulations that encompass an Athens crawl. ![]() I’m fortunate enough to have another year before I graduate however, many of my close friends will be leaving me after this semester. It’s the culmination of all the hard work you’ve put in, and it’s the ultimate challenge for a Bobcat before they walk across the big stage.Ī shuffle paying homage to a great reporters on-camera break down. In fear of the impending real-world responsibilities, it’s a tradition for Ohio University seniors to attempt one final bar crawl to celebrate with their close friends. I was with a group of seniors on the last leg of their final shuffle, their last chance to ignore the world ahead of them, before they leave the lives they’ve built in Athens. We all looked up, linked arms and put our souls into those Billy Joel lyrics. We cracked jokes and laughed out loud, but our thoughts were elsewhere. Another bonus is it has a 3 car garage, new mailbox and is located a few blocks from the Country Club.By the time our group made it to The Pigskin, there was an uneasiness in the air. Sprinkler system on the property, exterior/interior painted in 2018. Privacy fenced yard with a shed and the yard is maintained by TLC Groundskeeping. The home has a full deck out back(new in 2018) with partial coverings and entrances to the dining/kitchen area and the other is to the entertainment room. As we head upstairs there is 3 but definitely can be 4 large bedrooms and a full bath with double sinks and nice built ins. The main bedroom is also on the main level with a bathroom and it includes his/her sinks, jetted tub/separate shower and large walk in closet. It has full surround sound, currently has a bar, pool table, shuffle board and a mounted TV(all negotiable).There is a hidden safe room just in case you move to KS and need that extra safe space. You can watch the game that is located in the family room so everyone is in one space OR the bonus of this home is the entertainment room. The kitchen has been remodeled with granite countertops, new flooring and sit down bar(new in 2021) so there is plenty of space for family dinners or gathering of friends. To the left is the formal dining room, half bath and wraps around into the kitchen and dining area. Walk in to this beautifully maintained home with over 3500 square feet! As you walk in the front door it opens to an office on the left with french doors and lots of natural light.
